Paul White, Managing Director of Reading-based Palletline Member QTR Transport, is certainly doing his bit to reduce the company's carbon footprint – together with the beautiful Yogi and Toff, here he is out completing a few pre-Christmas deliveries! (We're not sure how this very individual vehicle fits into the Palletline livery specifications!)

Paul's interest in carriage driving began almost ten years ago. Always a keen horseman, and a proficient show jumper in his teens, Paul's equine interests had taken a back seat for some years when he was introduced to this ancient skill from the equestrian world.

"I had always been interested in carriage driving, and dare I say that advancing age made this a preferable option to taking my chances aboard a horse!" he says. When asked if there are any particular challenges involved, he says that choosing the right horses is probably the most critical issue. "That, and lots of schooling!"

Paul currently competes in show pairs, and is just moving into coaching and 'four in hand', which he admits is a totally different ball game to managing just two horses!

He enjoyed a excellent season at the County Shows with Yogi and Toff in 2011, even winning his class at the Royal Windsor Show, and is looking forward to whatever 2012 has in store!
