Job Title: PM Traffic Supervisor/Night Router

Job Purpose:
- To manage the efficient and effective routing of multi-drop deliveries and collections to ensure that vehicle utilisation is maximised and service levels are achieved within budget
- To ensure driver de-brief procedures are carried out thoroughly and efficiently
- To ensure that end of shift reports are completely accurate and are on a timely basis
- To assist with improving operational procedures
- To ensure that all traffic office enquiries are handled in an efficient and consistent manner, in accordance with Customer Contract Requirements and Charter regulations
- To provide general admin and clerical support as requested from time to time
- To ensure all collections are entered on to the Palletline systems as per the Palletline PLC Operational Processes
Key Job Activities
- Responsible for the efficient and effective route planning
- To ensure familiarity with Traffic Office procedures, Palletline PLC Charter and customer specific contracts
- To ensure that traffic office procedures are followed at all times
- To liaise with other departments on a timely and professional basis
Key Daily Tasks
- Route Planning – responsible for managing the efficient and effective routing of multi-drop deliveries and collections to ensure vehicle utilisation is maximised and service levels are achieved within budget
- Driver De-Brief – to ensure that compliance is met with all driver delivery/collection paperwork and digital signature devices and checked on return to the depot. Also ensure that problematic deliveries (including returns) are dealt with in accordance with Palletline PLC procedures
- Collection/Delivery Enquires – provide pro-active and practical solutions to collection/delivery enquires/problems
- Timely notification of problematic deliveries – ensure that all problematic deliveries are notified to Customers (including Palletline depots) in accordance with Palletline PLC procedures
- End of Shift – to ensure that all end of shift reports are completed accurately and on a timely basis
- Telephone Answering – answer the telephone promptly and efficiently in accordance with Palletline PLC procedures, in the knowledge that every phone call is a valued Customer; a polite and sensitive approach to Customer is taken at all times. Ensure that any messages are passed on to relevant personnel
- E-mail, Fax, System Messages and other enquiries - ensure that all enquiries are dealt with on a prompt and timely basis in accordance with Palletline PLC procedures

Skills, Knowledge and Qualities:
Technical Skills
- Experience of route planning is essential
- Highly systematic in approach, familiar with establishing and ensuring compliance with organised processes
- Proven knowledge/experience of the palletised goods/transport industry
- Good understanding of the Palletline system from an operational and administrative point of view
- Computer literate (including good working knowledge of traffic systems and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)
Personal/People Skills
- Able to work under pressure in a demanding environment, working to high corporate standards
- Good people, communication and leadership skills
- Honesty and integrity
- A positive attitude and pro-active approach towards problem solving
- Systematic in approach to follow documented processes
- Able to work using own initiative and within a team environment
- Proven people management skills and experience (dealing with staff welfare, sickness issues)
